Lofty View of Victoria

Victoria climbing East Hill out of Liss.
Clip from video collection 6 of Victoria steaming up East Hill out of Liss.

During the summer we took some unusual video footage. With the video camera, about 14 feet in the air on a tripod strapped to the roof of our living van, we managed to capture a different view of a steam traction engine.

The view from this lofty perch was down over the footplate, motion work, boiler barrel and chimney with the road out in front. Due to a slight lump in the rubber of one of the front wheels of the living van there is the odd jolt in the picture, but not enough to distract from the overall experience.

The best bits are when the steam from the chimney and safety valves wafts across the camera lens as Victoria pulls hard up the long and reasonably steep East Hill out of Liss.

Anyway, enough of the verbiage, if you've got broadband or if you don't mind waiting a while on a dial-up connection the videos are on our video page, collection 6. We would recommend the Realplayer versions as they are more efficient and will load faster.
