Greatham Fun Day

Greatham Fun Day

We had been invited to The Greatham Fun Day which was being held on the 18th June and we had planned to take both engines to this small fete just a few miles up the road. The weather seemed to have very different ideas, after all the rain we had had on the Friday we couldn’t get Lady out of the field very easy so it was decided that rather than put her or us at risk we would leave her safely tucked up under her sheets. This ment that as Victoria was on our drive and easy to get out we would take her and our wagon, sadly Victoria doesn’t have a canopy!!!!

The morning started bright and sunny and steam was raised with out any problems. About 10 minutes before we went the heavens opened and then for the rest of the afternoon it was much of the same. As you can see from the pictures one minute sun then dark and raining. The biggest shower of the afternoon was when Lloyd and Kev were roading the 3 miles home and they got soaked, still there was a lovely cuppa waiting for them when they got home and we had put Victoria away.

As for the fete, you have to fill sorry for the organisers as alot of work went in to putting on the fete, with lots of things on the village hall field, pony rides, stalls, BBQ, beer tent, the army with a large 26tonne crane lorry and of course lots of children doing bits in the arena. Quite a few people did turn out and the afternoon went well, I made lots of tea and a good lunch in the wagon which seemed to keep everyone happy.

The good old british weather couldn’t dumpen our spirits anyway….
