Beamish The Great North Steam Fair

Beamish The Great North Steam Fair

P1160847

Deciding where to go on holiday in January took on the usual theme as always, is there any rallies on that we haven’t been to before and let’s go there. So this year saw us take a trip up to Durham so we could visit the Beamish Great North Steam Fair and boy what an event!!

We travelled from Hampshire to Durham on the Saturday so could only visit the event for the Sunday but never the less we were looking forward to it, it’s always nice to see a new site and new engines. It was fairly busy as we queued to get in but within about 15 minutes we were in the site and starting our trip. As we stepped out of the door onto the streets vehicles were coming at us from all sides, a diesel roller, a steam wagon and trams. As we wondered around you just never knew what bus, tram, engine, car motorbike or tractor was going to pop up next. This is how events should be, I know it’s a Hugh sight but what a great way to see all these wonderful vehicles on the move.

We were taking pictures every second so there are plenty of pictures here to take a look at. The staff were very friendly along with the owners and drivers of the vehicles. The museum is dog friendly although they are not allowed in the buildings but that’s no problem.

We cannot praise this event enough, a thoroughly enjoyable day and some cracking vehicles to see, hear and watch going by. We had to go back a few days later to see some of the bits we had missed!!

If you are ever near Beamish you must go, one of the best event/day out we have had, looking forward to returning again sometime…
