Over the weekend of 22nd & 23rdrd June we attended our first steam rally of the season with Victoria, which was The Dene Rally held at Ropley, Hampshire. Being in a field next to the Watercress Steam Railway it was a great place for all things steam. This is only the 2nd time this event had been held and apart from the weather it was a great little do. Plenty of steam with about 9 full size engines and the same with the miniature steam, a few cars, tractors, motorbikes, commercial and of course stationary engines and it made for a good do. It was a real shame about the weather, we roaded Victoria and the living van over on the Friday in what started as a cloudy morning put as the today went on the weather got better and by tea time it was lovely summers evening when we had our fish and chips and a glass of wine. Sadly over night we had rain and very strong winds and it didn’t really let off all weekend, with showers were coming and going, the wind never dropped at all and Saturday evening was chilly but despite all that we didn’t let it dampen our spirits….
Here are a few pictures of the weekend, we like to thank the team for putting on this lovely event and we will see you there next year.
